ELA (Period 5) Assignments

Please make sure you have Rikki-tikki-tavi read before tomorrow.  You will take the first of two quizzes on the selection tomorrow.  I have the PDF here containing the entire selection.  Please re-read if you need to!

Please make sure 92 has color and decoration.

CAASPP Explanatory/Argumentative review on Google Classroom needs to be "turned in" by today.  Make sure all parts of both essays are completed, especially if you were absent and need to catch up.

 

Study p. 91 of I.N.!  Make sure you know the outlines for explanatory essays (Triple Whopper) and argumentative essays (Triple Whopper with special sauce!)

Start reviewing notes on p. 91 of I.N. to get ready for the Performance Task next week!

1.  Mid-book reflection for The House on Hound Hill.  What questions did you have at the beginning of the book that have since been answered for you?  What confusing elements of the plot have been made clear?  What are you STILL confused or wondering about?  One paragraph (5-7 sentences) due in Google Classroom by Wednesday.

 

2.  Start studying I.N. pages 21 (academic vocab), 27 (run-on sentences) and 29 (fragments).  We will be having a test on those three topics on Thursday, 11/19.

 

 

Respond to questions 1-4 from chapters 10 & 11 of The House on Hound Hill that are posted in Google Classroom.  Please answer the questions there by pressing the blue "answer this question" button (do not open a separate doc) and then turn it in.  

Finish your exposition, conflict, and rising action sections of your digital storyboards for The House on Hound Hill.  Remember to label each cell and that your characters NEED dialogue (even if it's just a thinking bubble because your character is talking to him/herself!)

 

I am sending you home today with your grade report thus far in ELA.  You need to get it signed and returned to me TOMORROW so you can still earn credit for PC.

1.  Decorate/color margins of p. 12 of I.N.  Do not go over the writing we've been doing in class...just throw your creative flair onto the top/side margins!  We will finish analyzing theme, tone, and mood for the story tomorrow.  

Rewrite the Revision Police paragraph onto page 10 of your I.N. WITH all of the corrections--this includes spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and the changes from simple into compound/complex sentences.  Make sure you COLOR and DECORATE when you finish!  Be creative!
