One Pagers are DUE!  Make sure you've done EVERYTHING in the "Do's" section of the directions posted in Google Classroom!  

Your ELA CAASPP test is MONDAY.  To prepare:

 

1.  Keep reviewing our CAASPP Friday notebook pages

2.  To to bed early on Sunday night.

3.  On Monday morning, eat a healthy breakfast.

4.  Bring your own earphones if you own them. 

Review I.N. pages 86, 87, & 93 to prepare for CAASPP.  Take the practice test (link is provided on my school classroom page). 

Review I.N. pages 76, 77, and 93 in preparation for CAASPP.

Final drafts of argumentative essay due through Google Classroom today!  Please submit by 11:59 for on-time credit!  

Please make sure all paragraphs (6) of the argumentative essay are completed.  Bring them tomorrow to participate in a peer review.  If your draft is not complete, you will not be able to participate in the review and that assignment will not be able to be made up!

Make sure the Edpuzzle activity on "Burying the Dead" is completed and all questions answered.  I will be scoring those over Spring Break. 

Revision Police p. 80.  Please have paragraph rewritten WITH corrections.  Color and decorate page. 

Make sure the visual summary collage of yellow fever treatments for Dr. Rush and Dr. Deveze are complete and submitted through Google Classroom TODAY.  

Google Classroom Assignment:  Initial Reflection for Fever 1793.  Please submit to me by Monday for on-time credit.  Many of you need this reading grade to offset your poor grades on the reading assignment for the "Flu Outbreak" informational text that you either did not complete or did not turn in.  

Finish the 4 SQUARE vocabulary activity we started in class today.  I will be collecting tomorrow. 

Finish the Influenza informational text you started in class today.  Make sure you've sufficiently marked the text, AND answered the questions on the back for full credit.  This assignment will be in the "reading" component of my gradebook--it will not count for a homework assignment, but be much more heavily weighted.  

Practice rehearsing your part of the PBL presentation with the script you did with me in class today.  If you were absent, look for an email with you part shortly.  You should have it memorized by the dry run on 2/21/2018!

Prepare for tomorrow's cafe conversations by previewing the docs/questions I posted in Google Classroom. 

Finish the 4 SQUARE vocabulary activity started in class yesterday.  If you were absent today:  we completed an Edpuzzle activity AND a pre-reading activity for Fever 1793.  You will need to catch up on both!

PBL Biographical Legacy is due through Google Classroom today.  Please make sure you turn it in for on-time credit!

Final draft of Explanatory Essays must be turned in through Google Classroom.   Any essays submitted after Wednesday will be considered LATE and be graded as such.

Please have all 5 paragraphs of your rough draft complete and ready for a peer review/feedback meeting tomorrow.  If you do not have your rough draft complete, you WILL NOT participate in the peer review and WILL take a ZERO for the assignment with no possible way to make it up or turn it in late!  

Finish the rough draft of your 3 body paragraphs and have them ready for class on Thursday.  Remember that each body paragraph is dedicated to a different character from H.o.H.H. that has been impacted by the plague.  Use your colors (B-Y-G) to shade each part of the SAY-SHOW-SO.  

Finish the introduction paragraph of your rough draft.  Remember that an intro paragraph needs 3 components:  hook, background information, and thesis.  

Finish I.N. p. 52.  Select 3 characters from H.o.H.H. impacted by the plague.  Brainstorm all the ways each has been impacted.  This information will become the body paragraphs of your explanatory essay!

I.N. will be collected tomorrow.  Make sure page 38 is complete.  You needed to find at least 8 examples of literary devices in The House on Hound Hill and write the page, number, the sentence containing it, and what type.  Color and decorate the page.  

Literature Circle role sheets for Chapters 31 & 32 of The House on Hound Hill.  This will be our final LC for this novel.  Make sure you come prepared to have a discussion about it tomorrow!

Read Chapter 30 of H.o.H.H. Make at least 5 marginal notes and highlight/label literary devices and signposts.  You will have a quiz on Chapter 30 tomorrow but I will not be available for tutoring this afternoon due to an IEP meeting after school.  If you read the chapter, you will do well on the quiz!  READ and MARK the TEXT!

If you were absent today, please read Ch 28&29 of H.o.H.H.

Notebooks will be collected tomorrow.  I will be checking page 42 (academic vocabulary).  Please make sure it is colorful and creative and demonstrates your understanding of the vocabulary words from p. 43!

Flipgrid responses are due.  They will be scored on a rubric with two categories of up to 5 each.  One category for presentation and one for ideas.  Please submit today. 

Review Chapter 27 with YOUR literature circle role in mind! Tomorrow you will meet in groups by role to prep for Wednesday; Wednesday will be our next circle meeting!

Complete all the remaining columns of the character organizer you started in class.  Be sure to use colors in the "Physical Description" column and choose meaningful quotes for the last column.  

Rewrite the "Revision Police" paragraph from I.N. p. 35 onto page 34, with all of the corrections.  Color and Decorate the page when finished!

Finish the SAY-SHOW-SO paragraph connecting the painting to our novel, The House on Hound Hill.  Include at least 3 examples (shows) in the paragraph.  Prepare to turn it in tomorrow.

Practice your Literature Circle role presentation for tomorrow's meeting!

1.  Start preparing for YOUR Literature Circle role by re-reading Chapter 24 with the purpose of your role in mind.

 

2.  Review the "Discussion Elements" notes that went on p. 31 of I.N. 

Complete the "Meaning" column of the Word Detective literature circle role that we started in class today.  Use dictionary.com to help you. 

Answer the 3 "Discussion Director" questions we formulated today in class for Literature Circles.  

Read Chapter 18 of H.o.H.H. and mark the margins AT LEAST 5 different times.  Those marks can be questions you ask, connections you make, predictions, summaries of what you read, or signposts you noticed.

The Mid-book reflection using academic vocabulary you started in class today through Google Classroom is due WEDNESDAY.  

Visual Vocabulary on p. 20 of I.N.  Remember:  put the definition into your own words and then create a visual representation of each word from p. 21.

Those of you who have your own copy of The House on Hound Hill need to start bringing it to class each day beginning Monday.

Quiz on Text Marking/Coding and Say-Show-So tomorrow.  Review the text we did today in class on Fidget Spinners--look at the connections, questions, and information about what the author is doing in the right margins and how we summarized on the left.  Review how we formulated our SSS paragraph because you will be answering the same question about central idea with the text on the quiz tomorrow!

 Google Classroom assignment on SSS/Academic Vocab #1 needs to be turned in BY 9 p.m. tomorrow night!

 

I'm collecting I.N. tomorrow.  Make sure page two is complete and done to the best of your ability.
