What is PBL?

 

PBL, short for Project Based Learning, is a teaching method through which students gain knowledge and skills by investigating and responding to a challenging question, problem, or challenge.  We call this the “driving question” because it is what “drives” the students’ investigation and research throughout the project.  The driving question is always at an appropriate level of challenge and is applicable in the real world.  As students investigate and research the problem at hand, they learn standards based content and skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, and communication.  Students are also encouraged to be creative as they design the projects that will answer their driving question.   

 

At the STEAM Academy, we use PBL as a method for bringing all of the elements of STEAM together for our students.  As students design their projects, they are using Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.  By providing a STEAM education that is driven by PBL to our students, we know we are preparing them to be college and career ready.

 

 

Que es PBL?



PBL, abreviatura de Project Based Learning, es un método de enseñanza a través del cual los estudiantes adquieren conocimientos y habilidades mediante la investigación y la respuesta a una pregunta desafiante, problema o desafío. Llamamos a esto la "cuestión de conducción" porque es lo que "impulsa" la investigación de los estudiantes a lo largo del proyecto. La cuestión de la conducción siempre está en un nivel apropiado de desafío y es aplicable en el mundo real. A medida que los estudiantes investigan el problema, aprenden contenidos y habilidades basadas ​en estándares, como el pensamiento crítico, la colaboración y la comunicación. También se anima a los estudiantes a ser creativos a medida que diseñan los proyectos que responderán a su pregunta de conducción.

 En STEAM Academy, usamos PBL como un método para reunir todos los elementos de STEAM para nuestros estudiantes. A medida que los estudiantes diseñan sus proyectos, utilizan Ciencia, Tecnología, Ingeniería, Artes y Matemáticas. Al proporcionar una educación STEAM que es impulsada por PBL a nuestros estudiantes, sabemos que los estamos preparando para estar preparados para la universidad y una carrera.
