English Language Arts 7th-Period 6 Assignments

1. Watch 👀 the video ☝️ first! The video lesson explains the structure of a biopoem AND shows you a sample I did step-by-step. Do not go rogue; this kind of poem follows a very specific outline!

2. Open the Biopoem outline sample 📁and and document 📃and split your screen with both ✌️so you do not have to keep switching tabs or going back and forth.

3. Choose your Outsiders character to create your own biopoem. Lines 5-8 need specifics (so don't just list their feelings, fears, accomplishments, and experiences but actually DESCRIBE them--watch my sample video again if you need to).

4. Putting an image of what you think the character you chose might look like underneath line 10 of your poem will get you some bonus points 😀🎰

2. Complete the document----you are responsible for completing your OWN work. Do not share answers with classmates or plagiarize information from the internet. If you don't know the answer to the question, you are able to go back and listen to the chapter again in the video I posted on Tuesday.
3. You submitting the completed document counts as your attendance for the day, so please make sure it's done and submitted by Friday so I can mark you as being "present" on Thursday.

We are close to being finished with the novel (only 3 chapters left :o). I want you to spend the next few days trying a very special One-Pager called "A to Z". It requires a lot of critical thinking but it can also be really fun and creative! Here is what you will do:

1. For each letter of the alphabet, find ONE word that begins with that letter (you can research sites online or use a dictionary). HERE IS THE CRITICAL THINKING PART: the word HAS to be related to The Outsiders in some way. For example in the letter A it would be APPROPRIATE to use the word angry, but an INAPPROPRIATE choice would be apple, because that cannot be tied into the book at all. You ARE allowed to use character names or places to represent the letters that correspond with those names/places.

2. You will use that word you chose for each letter in a sentence about The Outsiders. APPROPRIATE: Darry was angry that Ponyboy missed his curfew. INAPPROPRIATE: Pony eats an apple.

Is this starting to make sense? BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!

3. The last thing you will do is find a picture related in some way to the sentence you wrote (so for my sentence I might find an image of an angry man).

Last week I asked you to read Chapter 9 in the novel (the PDF is posted in Classroom if you do not have your own copy). Now I'd like you to answer some questions about events in the chapter. Remember to answer in complete sentences.

Here we are at the final practice! After this one you will have tried ALL 6! Language and Vocabulary, Editing, Brief Writes, Informational Text, Research, and Literary Text. Try your best, read everything carefully, and use the highlighting feature in Docs to select your answer.

Hopefully you had an opportunity to read Chapter 8 since it was assigned last week (if not, you still have time and the PDF is still in GC feed). Now I'd like you to answer some questions about events in the chapter. Remember to answer in complete sentences for full credit.
